Our program: Policies
Assessment
♦ New students with no Portuguese or Beginner level are welcome in the classroom. The success to these children is usually small in the beginning growing exponentially as the level of understanding increases.
♦ Assessments are structured as a casual ‘meet and greet’ with one of our teachers during class times.
Discounts
Siblings pay $70/month for each child
Drop-Off Policy
Classes are drop-off only. Parents may stay in the first class to help your child acclimate to the new environment, after which point we ask that you slowly phase out of the classroom for maximum learning efficacy. We ask that parents physically walk in their children and sign near the child’s name on our sign-in/out sheet.
Progress Report
IBEC‘s vision is to engage your child in the love of learning Portuguese. We gauge this interest by measuring progress in your child’s learning throughout the semester. On the last day of class, you will receive a report on your child’s progress and have the opportunity to discuss with the teachers.
Refunds
♦ Enrollment is confirmed only upon receipt of both an application and full tuition amount.
♦ No refunds will be processed after the 1st week of class (a $25 admin fee applies).
♦ Exception: Classes are subject to cancellation if minimum is not filled. In that case, IBEC will issue full refund or accommodate a class change.
School calendar
Please refer to our school calendar for important dates and school events, such as end-of-school performances, parent socials, and other celebrations.
Snack
Snacks are not permitted during the classes. We ask that you ensure your child is well fed and well rested before the class.
Parent Participation
The success of our program relies heavily on your help and volunteering. We ask parent volunteers to help with many school activities and events.
In the classroom, parents are invited into the classroom on a rotation basis to assist on day-to-day events. At home, you are encouraged to work with your child to complete homework assignments each week and bring them back to class every session. Play music and videos in Portuguese on a regular basis it can help the child learn quickly and develop confidence and familiarity with the Portuguese words, tone, and rhythm.
With our school, parents are asked to help with:
♦ school events (class and performances
♦ donation of cash, services and/or products to contribute directly (100%) to our classroom materials, administration and teacher training. We currently need: new laptops, printers, more classroom space.
We are a small, local organization with lots of passion, energy and great ideas for teaching but we need your help and support to make our dreams come true for the children of the future. Please let us know if you’d like to help… we appreciate your support and participation!
